Shanco successfully completed the groundworks package for a new build care home facility in Leeds. Services provided included the initial earthworks and foundation works; the drainage installation, and the construction of retaining walls.  We also managed the Section 278 entrance and crossing works and drainage connection in the highway.

 

One technical element was the construction of the new foundations over the site of an existing basement. The solution was to support the existing ground and then fill the void with imported aggregate in well compacted layers. The new foundations were then excavated through the compacted stone, dramatically reducing the volume of concrete required.

The site was next to an existing operational care facility, so works needed to be properly segregated, noise and dust had to be strictly controlled across the whole site and all deliveries were coordinated to take place during convenient times.
