We recently supported Interserve (Tilbury Douglas) with the full package groundworks for the construction of the new Discovery Academy in Sheffield. Our scope included all the earthworks, foundations, drainage system, service runs and the external hard landscaping including a MUGA pitch.

 

The site was adjacent to Sheffield Mencap, a facility supporting adults and children with disabilities and autism, and opposite the local tram routes in Sheffield. We had to carefully and sensitively coordinate our construction works and the transportation of plant and materials in and out of the project.

 

There were also coal seams under the building that required grouting and a live Substation was located in the location of the proposed MUGA pitch.

 

We worked closely with Interserve's Site team and Planner at the very early stages of the project and developed a new construction sequence to maximise productivity.

 

The project was successfully handed over recently. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to support Interserve (Tilbury Douglas) with such a fantastic and worthwhile project and hope the pupils and staff enjoy and thrive in their fantastic new Academy.
