A New Partnership & Precast Wall for St Francis Group

The latest development from St Francis Group, one of the UK’s leading regeneration & brownfield development specialists, is a new 2.2m square ft prime industrial/distribution park in Eggborough, North Yorkshire.

Our job was to first carry out a reduce level dig of a disused car park & divert drainage to prepare the area for the construction of a switch room/control room building. This was followed by the installation of the precast wall seen in the images above. The project also marks the start of a new client partnership; Shanco was recommended for the project by a Structural Engineer we had worked with on a previous project.

At the planning stage, there were a number of factors to consider. With our work being at the start of St Francis Group’s development process it was crucial we completed work within a strict timeframe to allow work to progress. Additionally, the neighbouring power plant was a live site, simultaneously undergoing demolition. The site level was also raised over a metre higher, whilst maintaining the existing level of the neighbouring building/electric fence, all with limited information of the existing services and drainage.

Working closely with the client, engineers & architects we conducted a full site survey and site investigation, coordinating existing buildings, fence lines, drainage and live services which enabled us all to work together to establish the most effective way to carry out the above works. We produced a number of proposals and drawings, offering advice on cost-effective methods for new drainage diversions. This enabled the client to successfully map out the position of the new retaining wall and plot the rest of the works for the site with all this information in mind.

This project not only exemplifies our innovative approach to complex projects, but is a true testament to the value of working in partnership with clients and fellow contractors.
